M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (MSRUAS), created by an act in the State of Karnataka, India, came into existence in December 2013. The University is sponsored by Gokula Education Foundation (Medical) trust. The University was created by integrating the “M.S. Ramaiah College of Hotel Management (1993), M.S. Ramaiah College of Pharmacy (1992), M.S. Ramaiah Dental College (1991) and the M.S. Ramaiah Advanced Learning Centre (2012)”
Academic Research-M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences aspires to grow as a modern innovative university with a greater emphasis on Applied Research. The University believes, that through its applied research agenda, can significantly contribute to the economic and social development of communities. The university is encouraging its members to spend their considerable time in research and has created a conducive atmosphere to make research as part of University culture.
Sponsored Research- The University has actively worked with National and International organisations in government, public and private sectors to carryout research and generate knowledge for the benefit of the Society. Research Organisations like ISRO, DRDO, DST, DBT and Central Ministries like Power, New and Renewable Energy, Environment and Forest, Human Resources, Agriculture, IT and Electronics and Industries have provided finance and research grants for advanced research in the past. So far the University faculties have undertaken more than 90 funded research projects and have filed more than 50 patents.

Centre of Excellence-
The main vision of Centre of Excellence (CoE) is to empower, create and synergize research groups across Ramaiah Institutions to address societal relevant problems of National importance. This can be propagated through Ramaiah Group’s sustainable research contribution towards becoming an entity of International Stature and Global Relevance. In view of this, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences has initiated and set up two CoEs in ‘AI, ML and Autonomy’ and ‘Computational Mechanics’. The CoE in Computational Mechanics will be mentored by Professor J.N. Reddy from Texas A&M University, USA and coordinated by Dr. Rahul M. Cadambi from RUAS. Moreover, Faculty members across Ramaiah Group of Institutions are also part of these CoEs.
The main goal of CoEs is to create a financially viable ecosystem using the inter-disciplinary expertise across Ramaiah Institutions. The main objectives of CoEs include:

Techno Centre- Techno Centre manages Consultancy, Product Design and Development, and Business Incubation activities. Directorate harnesses the research and problem solving abilities that are available with the members of faculties, in addition to the teaching resources and practical skills to work on real life projects. Industries, Businesses and Research and Development organisations who may want to work on challenging problems; interested in developing a new product concept; interested in new product development and commercialisation or would like to invest in new technology development can access the ecosystem that exists on the campus to meet their requirements. Students and Entrepreneurs alike are also provided access to the University’s resources for this purpose. The Techno Centre aims to bring the University, Industry, Business and Communities together for their mutual benefit.
