Compress PDF

Make a large PDF smaller for form uploads. In Keep text mode the text stays real text, so you can still copy roll numbers and certificate numbers. Pick a quality, or type the maximum KB you need.

Your file stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Keep Mode on Keep text (recommended). Pick a quality, or type the maximum size in KB.
  3. Tap Compress PDF.
  4. Check the new size and download.

Keep text mode makes the pictures inside the PDF smaller and leaves the text as it is. It works best for PDFs made from phone scans. If your PDF has no large pictures it will not shrink much. Then try Smallest file mode, which saves pages as pictures so the text cannot be copied. If the new file is larger, keep your original PDF.

Questions and answers

How do I reduce a PDF to a KB limit?

Choose the PDF, type the maximum size in KB and tap the button. The tool lowers the quality step by step until it fits.

Can I still copy text after compressing?

Yes, in Keep text mode (recommended). The tool makes the pictures inside the PDF smaller and keeps the text as real text, so you can still copy roll numbers and certificate numbers. Smallest file mode turns pages into pictures, so text cannot be copied there.

Why did my PDF not get smaller?

A PDF that has only text is already small. A PDF made of scans shrinks a lot. If your PDF has no large pictures, try Smallest file mode.

How many pages can I compress?

Keep text mode has no page limit. Smallest file mode works up to 40 pages.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs inside your browser. Your file stays on your phone or computer and is never sent to our server.

Is this tool free?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and has no daily limit.
